Offline Updating PS4 to 5.05 via USB
This guide is to update your PlayStation 4 to 5.05 via USB. This is prepare your PS4 to run the 5.05 firmware exclusive HEN exploit to jailbreak your PS4.
Required Downloads:
PlayStation 4 on Firmware 5.03 or Lower
- Firmware 5.03 or lower is required to upgrade to 5.05
- PS4’s already on firmware 5.05 can run the exploit to jailbreak their PS4
- There is currently no known way to downgrade your PS4 firmware
- Old PS4 Bundles released before 2018 can be found with their base firmware 5.05 or below
PS4 Update File (PS4UPDATE.PUP)
- The 5.05 update file is required to update to firmware 5.05
- The update file must be named
PS4UPDATE.PUP
USB Drive with 512MB Free Space
- A USB Drive with 512MB or more free space is needed to store the update file
Offline Updating to Firmware 5.05
- Create a folder called
PS4
on the root of your USB drive - Create a folder called
UPDATE
inside the/PS4/
folder on your USB drive - Copy your
PS4UPDATE.PUP
file to the/PS4/UPDATE/
folder on your USB drive - Insert your USB drive into the PS4 and power it on
- On your PS4, go to [Settings] -> [System Software Update]
- Select [Next] and confirm to proceed with the 5.05 update
Congratulations, your PS4 is now on firmware 5.05 and you are ready to run the HEN exploit to jailbreak your PS4.
